We have some concerned neighbors regarding the routes to and from our neighborhood. Karen S initially contacted the city concerning Center St. which turns into Seven Peaks Blvd. She advised them that the cars parked on the east-bound, right lane made it extremely difficult to travel on, especially now that it has been torn up so many times.
She was informed that the city will be tearing the street out from Center St through Seven Peaks Blvd. and it will be reduced down to one lane. Her concern is that with Seven Peaks so busy this year already, this construction will make it extremely difficult to get to and from our homes using that route. She’s aware that 300 N is an alternative, however without a traffic light at the intersection of 300 N & 900 E, it will not only be backed up, but will also be dangerous trying to go straight or turning left. Other neighbors have also suggested the city needs to put in a traffic light there, especially since some have heard about this.
Gary Brinton, the owner of Seven Peaks Water Park, has been trying to get the city to change their plans all summer. He is aware that the influx of vehicles entering and exiting his park has frustrated some residents of our neighborhood and knows that reducing traffic to a single lane would only exasperate this problem. Apparently they did postpone this project until now with the water park soon closing for the season, but that’s all they would do for Gary Brinton.
This road work is supposed to begin THIS WEEK. Karen is hoping that with more voices representing our neighborhood it might make a difference. If this is concerning to anyone and you’d like to be proactive please try contacting the Mayor’s office or Brian M. Torgersen, Traffic Engineer of the Provo City Engineering Department:

Office: 801-852-6745

In the mean time, you can always exit and enter the neighborhood through 580 N and use the 700 N traffic light as a safe alternative to cross or enter onto 900 E.

But when driving on 580 N, please, please, please drive slowly. The hill makes it very difficult to see cars and kids on the road.
